I recall having xbox gold back on the OG Xbox for Halo 2. Good times! I’ve been meaning to reaquire my Xbox from my parents but just havent had suitcase space when visiting. Makes a good emulator platform with the mods I had on it. Been wanting to get my SNES games on the couch at home again but man they might look bad blown up on a 100 inch projector screen.. I do actually miss the days of logging into Xbox live and playing custom Halo matches with random people I called friends until 7am all summer long.

I don’t know how Xbox gold handles that.

You can only access the Xbox One games you have picked up through Games with Gold while your subscription is still valid. You don’t lose the game forever, if you renew your subscription you regain access. The Xbox 360 games on the other hand are yours forever.

I’m taking the original Xbox when I move out. A company has started making HDMI cables for it which you can pick up on Amazon for $30. While the cable that came with the console only supported 480i over composite the console supported up to native 1080i over component with a different cable. The OG Xbox is a surprisingly powerful console and the games look great at 1080 on a modern TV.

Oh yeah switching to component makes a WORLD of difference. I hooked up my PS2 via component recently and now the old games I have are actually playable at least. Using red-white-yellow cables was just atrocious on a modern screen, to the point that the games were not even usable. I dont find time to play games much anymore but its nice to rehash the classics. Reddit post about Donkey Kong Country really inspired me to get my emulator stuff together so that I can try and beat that game finally on my ski trip over the next couple of weeks. My laptop is trash even for trying to play something like Minecraft but SNES emulator still works pretty well!

The thing is the Xbox is actually capable of native HD, the Gran Turismo 4 was the only PS2 game capable of running above 480. The Xbox has 47 games capable of running in native 720p, 6 of which also support native 1080i.

I wonder if anyone ever tried to port Netflix into an Xbox. Would be a pretty decent home theater box for that. Although that's why I have the ps3 instead, but it seems neat if that worked somehow.
